The pandemic was a surprise to everyone. The whole world changed within weeks. Suddenly, the life everyone knew was a memory. Aside from the global impact of the pandemic, leaning closer to the individual lives of people revealed something even more interesting. The mundane day to day life people took for granted has been re-written in ways no one ever thought would happen in their lifetime.
Suddenly, everything that was crumbling was brought into focus. Forced to stay at home and reflect, the aspects of life that many chose to ignore resurfaced at the top of mind – health, career, finances, relationships and even future dreams.
Perhaps, the biggest question of all is this:
“How can the world move forward? How can I move forward from this?”
It is undeniable that this world pandemic is a challenge. However, life’s biggest lessons are taught in the darkest of days. This pandemic is also an opportunity to grow, learn and reflect. Perhaps, the world before the pandemic came encouraged functioning in auto pilot. Without changes happening day by day, stagnation is a signature.
However, defeat is not an option. This incredibly unique turn of events in the world is helping us embrace many things. Some of the most important ones are the most simple, yet what we have learned to ignore in the past.
- Health
The pandemic highlighted the importance of our health and taking care of our bodies. Our health is our greatest asset. Nothing else in the world can be as priceless as staying healthy amidst the threat of a pandemic. This is calling for us to re-evaluate the way we take care of our bodies.
Aside from our physical health, our mental health is also important. With worries in our heads most of the time, taking time to check in with ourselves should be a must.

These things should not feel like a burden. In our own little ways, we can make small daily changes to improve our physical and mental health. Making a 10 minute walk or exercise a non-negotiable, meditating even for just five minutes a day and keeping track of your moods and thoughts through journaling can be a big help.
- Nourishing our Minds
Staying informed is an advantage. The more informed we are, the better. Thankfully, the digital age is offering many options for us to absorb the important news and reminders we have to know. Through blogs, videos and news snippets, valuable information is readily available.

Part of this aspect is also learning to determine whether the kind of media we are consuming is beneficial for our well being. The kind of information we should consume should empower us and not instill fear. Filtering the kind of information we consume by verifying facts and sources is a skill that current events are honing.
- Planning for our Future Moves
Although the pandemic feels like a pause button for our future plans, it is something to note that these times are giving us the chance to plan our biggest moves in the future. With time to think, plan and pinpoint what we want our future to look like, many people are getting into a thriving mindset.
